HOLIDAY INFORMATION

The Hiking Programme

The cables and lifts will carry you to rolling alpine meadow areas, for easier mountain walking. These in turn lead to higher, more strenuous options, for those who prefer something more demanding.

The Walking Grades

The walking programme is designed at Grassroutes Grades B & C. With two Leaders we can offer a choice of two walks on each of the 10 walking days. The distances and ascents / descents may be modified to suit the needs and abilities of the group members but will generally be :
Grade B
Up to 3,000 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths. Terrain may be steeply inclined and rough underfoot, with loose rock at times. Distances 10-15 miles.

Grade C
Up to 1,500 feet of ascent / descent, on way-marked paths. Terrain may be steeply inclined at times and rough underfoot, with possibly some loose rock. Distances usually 5 – 8 miles.

Note: On some Grade B walks, more strenuous extensions may be offered but only at the request of the members of the party.

Non-Hiking Excursions

During the holiday there will be two free days, when you can relax and do your own thing, or join one or more of our optional extra sightseeing excursions. Possibilities include Lake Bled, the capital Ljubljana, which has a delightfully restored historic old town and the famous Postojna Caves.

Travel

Within Slovenia will be by deluxe coach or comfortable passenger van, depending on the size of the group, from Ljubljana Airport to your hotel and return. Local transport will be by private coach / passenger van, local service bus, cable car or chair lift as appropriate.

Hotel

In KRANJSKA GORA you will stay for 7 nights at the excellent 3 star Hotel Miklic. This has comfortable lounges, an excellent restaurant, a bar, lift, sauna, exercise room and an indoor swimming pool. All bedrooms have private bathrooms, T.V. and telephone. Non-smoking rooms are available.

In BOHINJ you will stay for 7 nights at the 4-star Hotel Kristal. The hotel is located centrally by the lake and has 63 rooms and three suites. Rooms have direct telephone link, cable TV, mini bar, hairdryer and most of rooms have safe and balcony with seats. There is an Internet cafe in hotel lobby, boot room and parking in front of the building.

Flights

Grassroutes Holidays does not arrange flights from Britain to Slovenia. We can however assist you by telephoning fully bonded Air Tour Operators on your behalf. Please note that we do not take payment for flights ourselves, these must be made directly to the ATOL holder. By ensuring that you are booking direct with an ATOL holder you can rest assured that your flights are financially protected.

• 14 nights accommodation in twin/double rooms, with private bathroom & toilet, in good quality 4 or 3 star hotel.
• 14 x 4-course evening meals with buffet breakfast each morning.
• All the transport costs necessary to fulfil the hiking programme.
• Airport transfers from Ljubljana Airport to the hotel and return by deluxe coach or comfortable passenger van.
• Services of one Grassroutes Leader and one or more local Waliking Guide(s)* V.A.T. and all local service charges and taxes

THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE
Flights to Ljubljana, Lunches, insurance (strongly recommended), optional extra sightseeing excursions (details will be advised by the Grassroutes Leader), single room supplements, admissions to castles, museums etc. Local transportation costs not part of the walking programme and items of a personal nature, e.g. drinks, telephone calls etc.
