Hiking the Peak District National Park

The Peak District
Hiking the Peak District
The Peak District National Park was Britain’s first and covers what is known as the Dark Peak, an area of gritstone rocks in the north of the county of Derbyshire and the White Peak, made up of limestone, in the south of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Although a relatively small area it offers a great variety of walks suitable for moderate and easier walking, in the Peak District and also the Derbyshire Dales.

Walking terrain includes high moorland, river valleys and farmland. Kinder Scout is the highest area in the Dark Peak with famous features such as Jacob’s Ladder and Kinder Downfall. The Dales include beautiful, clear river valleys like the Derwent, Dovedale, Lathkill Dale and many others. You will stay in comfortable three star hotels and enjoy excellent food.
